Loving God, Loving Others...

...love God, ...love others...(Matthew 22:34-40)

Jesus tells us these are the focus of all of his commands.  This makes it simple.    Simple, however, should not be confused with "easy."

First of all, it is a moment by moment, on-going process that must become a of way of life if it is to have a significant impact. It will be an on-going process because the challenges to love are never static and always dynamic. This will require us to live behind the lead of Christ in the everyday moments of our lives.  To 'love God and love others," means we will be entering into God's training.  This is what it means to be "a disciple of Christ."  When I sense hate in my heart or see it in my actions, it requires humility before God and others to let them help me.

Secondly, "growing in love" always has challenges.  If we want to love, we must engage our intellect, our emotions, and our physical nature.  If one of them gets shut-down, we lose our growth edge.  If we sense that one part of us is not engaging, we need to humble ourselves before God and others, and seek help in that area.  God and other people have what is needed to get "unstuck" in that area of your life.

...love God, ...love others...

Simple, not easy...
