A roadmap to leave an amazing legacy!

Psalm_101-1024x314Sometimes the words just jump off the page at you!  Yesterday in my quiet time, I read through Psalm 101 and it was the most "timely" thing that I've read in a while! Prior to this, I was preparing to  develop my own personal mission statement.  Principles to align my life with...a game plan to finish well.

As I thought about what I valued, what I wanted to strive for and the legacy I want to leave...I read through these words that seemed to read like David's own personal mission statement!

Coincidence?  Not a chance.  I'll share them with you (along with the notes that stuck out to me...in italics):

Psalm 101

I will sing of your love and justice, Lord. I will praise you with songs.                    (It begins with praise) I will be careful to live a blameless life— (it requires intentionality) when will you come to help me?           (we can't do it alone) I will lead a life of integrity  in my own home.                                      (home is where it all begins) I will refuse to look at     anything vile and vulgar.                         (refusing "garbage-in") I hate all who deal crookedly;     I will have nothing to do with them.     (refusing corrupting company) I will reject perverse ideas     and stay away from every evil.               (keeping your thoughts pure)  I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors.  (honoring your neighbor)     I will not endure conceit and pride.       (putting to death pride and vanity)

I will search for faithful people     to be my companions.                             (keep loyal and excellent friends) Only those who are above reproach     will be allowed to serve me.                    (work with people of integrity) I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house,     and liars will not stay in my presence.   (distance yourself from people who lie) My daily task will be to ferret out the wicked       and free the city of the Lord from their grip.   (work daily for justice)

WOW.  Oh, to read these scriptures DAILY and align my life behind their principles!  This would lead to a legacy worth leaving behind!

Have you given much thought to your own personal legacy...and the game plan to help guide you to the legacy you hope to leave?

If so, I'd love to know your thoughts!
