So, for a while now, I’ve considered the purchase of a new guitar. I’ve done much research, visited multiple stores across multiple states and continue to wait for the perfect instrument to come across my path.
I’m not fretting though (had to...sorry) ...because the journey has been interesting. I’ve researched, seen, and played all different types! The choices ARE endless it seems...with different styles, body shapes, pickup types, wood choices, solids, hollowbodies...you get the picture.
Here’s where it gets interesting...every so often I run across a “Signature” model. John Mayer has one, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, BB King, Jewel, Brian May, Santana, Dave Matthews and MANY more all have a signature model. They are guitars made to the exact specifications of their artist/creator...right down to the settings in the tone pots of the pickups. They are 100% designed with INTENTIONALITY. These guitars fascinate me...because it gives me a window into the preferences of their creator.
As I thought about this, I remembered that there’s an artist greater than any other artist. An artist who’s creativity imagined the entire universe and then put every piece of it into ITS exact spot. An artist who works with incredible intentionality and specificity to CREATE EVERYTHING with precision. An artist who never makes a mistake...and who then displays his creations on a stage that all of heaven and Earth can see. An artist who then goes on to say that the creation of YOU AND I is his MASTERPIECE.
This artist is God and we are his one-of-a kind creation, handcrafted with precision. His workmanship. His “Signature” model...made to His exact specifications. Have you thought of yourself as such? And, have you thought of what preferences of the image and nature of God you represent?
We are perfectly designed as the CREATOR intended...made with intentionality and purpose right down to your last skin cell.
What a joy it is to be a “Signature” model!
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God’s masterpiece.
Isaiah 64:8 - And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.
Psalm 139:14 - Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
