Snow flakes, changes, perspective and the call to press on

snowflakes_macro_04 From where I sit watching the snow fall, I’m reminded that life is in perpetual motion.  Flakes drifting up and down, breezes blowing, movement happening...and it’s all going on ALL THE TIME!

(*Thank  God that snow doesn’t happen all the time...but I’m glad for this picturesque reminder.*)

If I were to capture a picture of what it looks like outside this coffee shop window, it would be impossible to recreate this exact scene again...because what’s happening all around us is in constant movement.  Life is always changing.  It’s moving and moving us.

This is a crazy thought...but a comforting one as well.  For the Christian, we believe that life is a perpetual journey.  God is moving us in a direction...and shaping us along the way.  He’s putting things in our path to make us stronger while guiding us back into the perfect peace and paradise He is recreating for us!

We may not always like how our journey looks, but if our PERSPECTIVE is correct, we must choose to believe that God is a good God, who brings about Good things (that may not always feel good) to achieving IN us and THROUGH us His good purposes to remake ALL THINGS good again!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says:

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

I’ve spoken with many people who are struggling lately.  Don’t give up.  Don’t give in.  Don’t fail to look for (and TRUST) the good that God can bring through a trial you are facing.

This week at McLane Erie, we’ll continue our series on Perspective.  I hope you can make it!

I promise that as we open God’s word and worship together, YOU WILL BE renewed and your perspective will be changed...that’s what God does!

Much love!
